How To Become an Instructor
Step 1: Choose Your Instructor Package
Select the instructor program that fits your goals:
BLS Instructor
First Aid CPR AED Instructor
Red Cross Instructor
Step 2: Get Certified
Before becoming an instructor, you must hold a valid CPR certification. We’ll help you complete your BLS and/or First Aid CPR AED certification first.
Step 3: Complete the Online Pre-Course Work
Complete the required AHA Instructor Essentials online course and review the instructor manual before attending the workshop.
This step gives you the knowledge and foundation needed to succeed as an instructor.
Step 4: Attend the Instructor Training Workshop
Join our instructor workshop where we’ll guide you through:
AHA rules and instructor requirements
Training center policies
Instructor paperwork
How to issue eCards
Setting up your AHA instructor account
By the end, you’ll be ready for the final step.
Step 5: Monitor a Live CPR Class
Assist during one of our live CPR classes and apply what you learned in a real training environment.
This gives you hands-on experience and allows us to evaluate your instructor skills.
Step 6: Receive Your Instructor Credentials
Once completed, you’ll receive your official instructor credentials and be ready to start teaching CPR and BLS classes.
